Poetry: On Forgetting a Jacket
I am so cold!
My memory!
Of the islands!
Can barely save me!
My soul can’t reach around!
To warm my skin!
Joy only exists in history!
I am history!
The sun is prehistoric!
What is time up to?
Today alone is radiant!
If I’d only put on a jacket!
But, no!
I wore none!
-- and I feel it all!
So I’d rather be cold!
Than being oblivious!
Of what I used to have!
And what I cannot fight!
What is time up to?
I can’t help having a body!
That’s for sure!
But to answer that question!
I say!
Take off your jacket!
And you will know!
